Webstores 2000 Installation
System requirements:
Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 95/98 or Windows 2000
Intel 486 or higher (Pentium processor recommended)
24mb RAM (32mb or more highly recommended)
World Wide Web server with ASP Script Engine (MS IIS or Personal web server comes with ASP already installed)
25mb of free hard drive space
Step 1: Extract files
Run the exe file, extract files to a directory on your hard drive: %WEBSTORES_ROOT% (e.g. c:\webstores2000)
Step 2: Configure system path
Using notepad or any other text editor open file %WEBSTORES_ROOT%\www\connection.asp
configure the variable : Application_Path to the path where you installed webstores 2000
(e.g. Application_Path = "c:\webstores2000")
Step 3*: Install necessary DLLs and Windows Script Version 5.1
Webstores 2000 supports files upload/download, automatic email notification and real credit card
processing, you must install those DLLs in your system to ensure proper functionality.
For proper encoded script functionality you will also need to install the MS Windows Script Version 5.1. (highly recommended)
This is done automatically through a batch file.
If your OS is win NT:
open up folder %WEBSTORES_ROOT%\com and run winnt.bat
If your OS is win 95/98:
open up folder %WEBSTORES_ROOT%\com and run win9x.bat
Step 4: Configure web server
Configure your web server to point to the \www folder inside Webstores2000 installation.
That folder contains the web pages that are accessible to you and your users on the world wide web.
**Using your web server mapping feature create a virtual directory (e.g. %webstores2000%) that points to %WEBSTORES_ROOT%\www folder.
Step5:
Point your browser to : http://%YourServerName%\%webstores2000%\index.asp where %webstores2000% is the name of the virtual directory you created in step4.
Database requirements:
Webstores 2000 ships with MS Access 2000 database, you must have the 32-bit ODBC driver installed in your system.
It is not required to have the MS Access 2000 program installed but we highly recommend it!
NOTE: If you have MS Access 97, please do the following:
In folder %WEBSTORES_ROOT%\data_base there is the file: webstores2000_97.mdb, this is the MS Access 97 format of the webstores 2000 database.
Rename the webstores2000.mdb to something else (i.e. webstores2000_not_used.mdb) then rename webstores2000_97.mdb to webstores2000.mdb, that's all, now you can run on MS Access 97 database.
Please note that we have not test this product fully with Access 97, we highly recommend to use MS Access 2000.MS Sql Server 7.0
Webstores 2000 now supports MS Sql Server 7.0.
If you want to use this databse do the following:
1. Refer to SQL_Setup.txt for instructions on how to build and import the Webstores 2000 SQL database.
2. Modify Connection.asp to point the datasource to SQL Server (See instructins inside Connection.asp).

**If you do not know how to create a virtual directory using your web server, please consult your system administrator or webmaster. Usually you can find documentation inside the web server program on how to do it!Note: Webstores 2000 store manager is currently best viewed with MS IE 4.0 & up. (download: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.htm)
